My favourite non-fiction books are those that are easy to read, well designed with good illustrations, and are sometimes amusing. I try to make my own books fit that description, and I hope that they appeal to you too. History should be informative and enjoyable, and perhaps it should also teach us something about ourselves.

All my books for sale on Amazon have now been published, or revised, into a uniform edition. The two Kindle editions are in print replica format so that they are exact copies of the printed editions.

So far, my books have all been non-fiction. One day I will surprise everyone by actually completing one of my attempts at fiction.

But this website isn't just about books, it is also a showcase for my favourite areas of research. There are three people (so far) included on the Research page: William Friese-Greene – one of the pioneers of cinematography whose first career was a photographer (I collect his photographs); Henry George Keyse – a ship's hairdresser from the days of steam who was also a keen photographer (I collect his photos too); and Henry Ransom, my great great grandfather who ran a drapery business in London in the 1800s (I don't think he was ever a photographer, but I do have many of his family photographs).

This new book should be available in 2024. It will be published as a paperback edition from Amazon – price to be announced.

As it is still being compiled, the total number of pages is not yet known, but so far there are more than 200, and the catalogue section includes over 500 cards, all illustrated.

It will never be a complete catalogue because so many postcards were produced, many of which were printed in very small quantities – such as for a little girl's birthday party – but a broad selection will be illustrated inside.
